ESUT Postpones Post-UTME Screening Date 2017/2018

This is to inform all candidates seeking admission into Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) that the screening exercise has been postponed.

The screening which was supposed to hold on 25th to 29th September 2017 has been postponed.

Meanwhile, the registration for the screening continues till further notice. Candidates who scored 180 and above and chose ESUT as their first choice can apply. Also candidates who did not choose the school but scored up to the cut-off mark can also apply.

Candidates are to check the school's website and this blog regularly for updates on the new screening schedule.

NECO records 70 per cent pass

THE National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the result of its 2017 June/July Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE) with 745,053 candidates – about 70.85 per cent – making five credits and above in English Language and Mathematics. Announcing the release of the results yesterday in Minna, its Registrar/Chief Executive, Prof. Charles Uwakwe, said 1,051,472 candidates sat for the examination. He said 903,690 candidates made credit and above in English Language, 849,335 got credit and above in General Mathematics), 561,437 in Economics and 599,093 (Biology). Uwakwe added that the result showed 1.11 per cent improvement in candidates’ performance compared with 2016 results. Ekiti State, he said, emerged top in students’ performance with 85 per cent scoring five credits and above, including Mathematics and English. VC University of Ibadan advocates family life, health education in schools

A don, Prof. Abel Olayinka, has stressed the need for Nigerians to acquire sound Family Life and Health Education (FLHE) to achieve a fulfilling and rewarding life. Olayinka, who is the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, gave the advice at a National Workshop, organised by the Ibadan Social and Evaluation Research Team (ISERT) in Abuja. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the FLHE is a planned process of age appropriation, cultural and gender sensitive education that foster the acquisition of knowledge of life skills. It also gives reproductive health information, which should lead to positive changes in behaviors, attitudes, beliefs, values and the development of skills by adolescent to cope with emerging life sexuality issues. WAEC: launches interactive/communication platform for candidates

Mr Damianus Ojijeogu, the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) Head of Public Affairs on Thursday in Lagos issued a statement stating that the organization has launched a talk back platform, known as “WAECKonnect” to improve effective communication between the council and candidates. He said, the organization (WAEC) created this platform to reduce the communication gap between her and her candidates, which means with this platform WAEC candidates easily communicate with them(WAEC BOAED). In his statement he said “We are pleased to announce a new electronic information sharing and dissemination platform, called Candidates Interactive System or WAECkonnect.
