AKSU Direct Entry Admission Screening 2017/2018 Announced

  The management of Akwa Ibom State University has announced First ever Direct-Entry Admission Screening Exercise for 2017/2018 academic session. Direct Entry candidates who made Akwa Ibom State University their choice of institution and the general public are hereby notified that the Screening exercise for the 2017/2018 Direct Entry admission into first degree programmes of Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU) will hold on Monday 9th October, 2017 at the Main Campus, Ikot Akpaden - Mkpat Enin L.G.A from 9am.     REGISTRATION FOR THE SCREENING EXERCISE The University portal will be opened for registration from Monday, 25th September, 2017 and closed on Friday, 6th October, 2017 . UNIBEN Reschedules Post-UTME Screening Date 2017/2018

      This is to inform the general public that according to the information posted on the registration page, The University of Benin (UNIBEN) Admission Screening Exercise for 2017/2018 Academic Session; to be conducted by UNIBEN CONSULT NIGERIA LIMITED, is rescheduled to take place between 28th September 2017 and 10th October 2017 in designated centres within the Ugbowo Campus of the University. The Screening Exercise shall be conducted using the Computer Based Test (CBT) mode.   All candidates are expected to be seated,latest one hour before the stipulated time for their screening exercise. Candidates should go back on-line on 25th September, 2017 to check for their specific Day, Venue and Time for the Screening NOTE that GSM phones and calculators are NOT allowed. Application closes Midnight 23rd September 2017.

ESUT Postpones Post-UTME Screening Date 2017/2018

  This is to inform all candidates seeking admission into Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) that the screening exercise has been postponed. The screening which was supposed to hold on 25th to 29th September 2017 has been postponed.   Meanwhile, the registration for the screening continues till further notice. Candidates who scored 180 and above and chose ESUT as their first choice can apply. Also candidates who did not choose the school but scored up to the cut-off mark can also apply. Candidates are to check the school's website and this blog regularly for updates on the new screening schedule.

‘Illiteracy rate in Nigeria alarming’ what could be the factor

The Federal Government on Thursday described the illiteracy rate in the country as alarming. The Minister of Education, Alhaji Adamu Adamu, made the remark when he paid a courtesy call on Gov. Alhaji Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday. The News Agency of Nigeria ( NAN ) reports that the minister and the delegates were in the state for a two-day International Literacy Day conference organised by the National Commission for Mass Education. Adamu said the country had about 65 million to 75 million illiterates, describing the figure as unbecoming and high, considering the country’s population. “Education is the bedrock of any country’s development and any country that does not educate its populace is bound to fail. “Unfortunately, in Nigeria we have a very large population of illiterates; the illiterates figure, considering our population, is unbecoming,’’ he said. JAMB REGISTRAR UTME score no guarantee for admission

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) says that only a combination of JAMB cut-off marks, post-UTME, O’ level results and other admission criteria as determined by institutions can ensure candidates’ admission. Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, the JAMB registrar, disclosed this at an intensive Training and Sensitisation Forum on Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) for the 2017/2018 academic session on Thursday in Abuja. Oloyede said that scoring higher than the minimum cut-off marks did not guarantee admission but made candidates eligible for admission consideration. He added that institutions determined the institutional, programme and course cut-off marks and other admission criteria in exercise of their autonomy.
